Dear Cat Therapy family,
I hope you and your loved ones are staying healthy and safe. You care so much about our cats, so I needed to talk to you about the current situation. I want to be 100% honest with you and tell you a few ways you can help us get through this.
As of March 18th, we had to make the hard decision to close our doors to the public until further notice. This action is taken in accordance with the latest Santa Barbara City Council emergency proclamation and is necessary to help reduce the impact of COVID-19 on our community and loved ones.
As many of you know, we pay our bills through the entry fees you generously pay when visiting Cat Therapy, and due to the current crisis, we have no funds coming in. Therefore we haven't been meeting our budget and I worry about the future of our family owned small business and the cats under our care.
The cats still need us. Returning them is not an option I am willing to consider, as I am committed to them.
Cat rescue doesn’t stop. Our cats need a roof over their heads and professional care-taking to ensure they’re healthy and happy. Our employees need their jobs. The whole world may be coming to a halt to ensure this virus doesn’t spread, but the bills do not stop and we have 25 cats under our care right now. Many will die in shelters if we can't continue doing our work. Thanks to your online purchases and contributions you're generously sending us, the Cat Therapy space can be maintained while this situation gets resolved.
Many local small businesses like ours are facing similar realities. There is a lot of uncertainty as to what kind of help will be out there once this passes, especially because business interruption insurance does not cover this kind of scenario and many may not be able to afford to pay back the loans that are being offered.
You have always been so amazing in supporting our mission through visiting us, attending our special events and helping us save cats like Tazzy. So I wanted to let you know of a few ways you can help us get through this:
Your support means the world to me, our team and the cats. We were dreaming of an amazing 2020 for cat rescue and we have hopes that we can still make that happen. We are working on developing ways we can keep you connected with our cats while this situation resolves. We also want to continue promoting adoptions and posting about our cats on Social Media (@CattherapySB).
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. You can email us at email@example.com. Stay safe, take care of yourselves, support your local businesses, if you can! We will stay busy caring for the kitties you love so much.
Please share this message with your friends if you can.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Catalina Esteves / Founder
